40th Anniversary Speech Day
2018-11-24

Chiu Lut Sau Memorial Secondary School held its 40th Anniversary Speech Day on November 24, 2018.  Guests, graduates, teachers, alumni, prize-winners and their parents gathered together at the beautifully illuminated Lut Sau Hall for the ceremony. This year we were especially honoured to have invited Mr. TAI Lun, Paul, a distinguished alumnus of our school, as our Guest of Honour. Mr. TAI graduated from our school in 1986. He is currently the Vice President of the Hong Kong Young Industrialists Council and the Chairperson of the Education and Training Committee of the Council. He is also the Trustee Member and the School Supervisor of Hong Kong Forest House Waldorf School.

The Principal, Mr. KONG Yick-cheong, opened the ceremony with a report on the school’s achievements in the past year. Our students’ performance in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) 2018 was exceptional with an overall passing percentage of 97.5% in which 62.4% attained Level 4 or above. Mr. KONG also highlighted students’ all-round development and the accolades they attained in various disciplines including sports, performing arts, debates and social services. Finally, Mr. KONG expressed his gratitude to the SMC members, the PTA, the Alumni Association, and all staff members for their support and contribution to the school.

Our Guest of Honour, Mr. TAI, presented prizes and certificates to the graduates. Being an eminent industrialist and an advocate of life-long learning, Mr. TAI gave a very enlightening speech on the importance of language proficiency, creativity, flexibility and broadening one’s global horizons. He encouraged students to work hard on their studies and develop resilience in the face of challenges.

Finally, WONG Yuen-ting, the student representative of the school, delivered a vote of thanks to the school on behalf of all graduates. The ceremony ended in a delightful atmosphere with magnificent performances given by the Dance Club and the School Choir.
