35th Annual Speech Day
2017-11-25

Chiu Lut Sau Memorial Secondary School held its 35th Annual Speech Day on November 25, 2017.  Guests, graduates, teachers, alumni, prize-winners and their parents gathered together at the beautifully illuminated Lut Sau Hall for the ceremony. This year we were especially honoured to have invited Mr. Daniel Chi-wo LEE, a distinguished alumnus of our school, as our Guest of Honour.  Mr. LEE graduated from our school in 1996 and is currently a lecturer of the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education of the Faculty of Education at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The Principal, Mr. KONG Yick-cheong, opened the ceremony with a report on the school’s achievements in the past year. Our students’ performance in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) 2017 was exceptional with the overall passing percentage of 96.4% in which 60% attained Level 4 or above. Mr. KONG also highlighted students’ all-round development and the accolades they attained in various disciplines including sports, performing arts, debates and social services. Finally, Mr. KONG expressed his gratitude to the SMC members, the PTA, the Alumni Association, and all staff members for their support and contribution to the school.

Our Guest of Honour, Mr. LEE, presented prizes and certificates to the graduates. Being an advocate of holistic development in education and one of the elite athletes in Hong Kong, Mr. LEE gave a very inspiring speech on the importance of 4Cs—Communication, Consideration for Others, Critical and Creative Thinking and Care for Society. The 4Cs represent the vital qualities that give rise to personal values – which, in turn, form the basis for the learning and living of an individual. He highly encouraged students to equip themselves with the 4C skills to sharpen their competitive edge to meet future challenges.

Finally, CHIU Sun-hei, Gary, the student representative of the school, delivered a vote of thanks to the school on behalf of all graduates. The ceremony ended in a delightful atmosphere with spectacular performances given by the Dance Club and the School Choir.
