CLSMSS 40th Anniversary Banquet – Celebrating Our Excellence, Igniting Our Future
2019-05-18

Close to 550 members of the CLSMSS community gathered at the Red Royalty Banquet Restaurant in the evening on 18th May 2019 for our 40th Anniversary Banquet. The evening brought together alumni, friends, parents and staff from the past and present to reconnect, celebrate, and honour our school and its founder – the late Mr. CHIU Lut-sau, who envisioned a school that would allow her students to ‘reach their full potential’.
The banquet was graced by distinguished guests which included Mr. Clifton CHIU, grandson of the late Mr. CHIU Lut-sau, past and current SMC Chairpersons, Mrs. IP TSANG Chui-hing, Betty, Mr. LEE Yuk-fai, Steve, Mr. TSUI Kai-cheung, Edwin, Ms. SO Yuen-yi, and the current Chairperson, Ms. LAU Yuk-lin, Karen; and former principals of our school since its inception.
With Mr. Ronald MOK (graduated in 1992), and former Cable TV News Anchor, Ms. CaCa LAM (graduated in 2005), as the Emcees, the dinner got off to a rousing start with everyone singing quite possibly the most impressive rendition of the school song. After that was a toast led by our current principal, Mr. KONG Yick-cheong, and former principals, Mr POON Wai-tong, (the first principal of the school from 1979 to 1982), Mrs. CHENG LAU Yuk-king (from 1994 to 2005), and Mrs. LO CHOY Yin-fon, Margaret (from 2005 to 2015). Under their capable stewardship, CLSMSS has risen from a school of humble origins to one of eminence in Yuen Long district.
The evening was a memorable gathering of the CLSMSS family on a scale unparalleled in her history. We celebrated the achievements of our alumni, which include that of Mr. LEE Chi-wo, Daniel, the first triathlon representative from Hong Kong in the Sydney Olympics, and the Silver medallist of the 2006 Asian Games; and savoured the warm ambient atmosphere where aplenty handshakes, pictures of camaraderie and friendships reigned.
The audience delighted in the montage of photos and videos which flashed vivid images of the different eras at CLSMSS, and were treated to a raffle draw, and special choral performances by alumni members such as Ms. CaCa LAM. It was heartwarming to see so many friends from CLSMSS’s past and present come together to mark the special occasion, to ‘Celebrate Our Excellence and Ignite Our Future’.
