S5 Zhaoqing Study Tour: Nature and Cultural Conservation (Citizenship and Social Development)
2025-12-15

From December 15 to 16, 2025, our Secondary 5 students and teachers participated in a two-day study tour to Zhaoqing, with a focus on natural and cultural conservation. The tour brought students to iconic landmarks, including the Seven Star Crags (七星岩摩崖石刻), the Ancient Zhaoqing City Wall (肇慶古城牆), and the Huangyan Cave Site (黃岩洞景區). Through these visits, students gained a deeper understanding of cultural heritage preservation and explored the delicate balance between tourism development and environmental sustainability.

A major highlight of the tour was the visit to Zhaoqing Dinghu Middle School (肇慶鼎湖中學). Through campus tours, seminars on educational policies, and lively folk dance performances, our students engaged in meaningful exchanges with their mainland counterparts. These interactions offered firsthand insights into educational development on the Mainland and helped strengthen students’ sense of national identity.

This experiential learning experience effectively complemented the Citizenship and Social Development curriculum. Students reflected on the nation’s achievements in environmental protection and quality of life, while also building friendships with local youth. By bridging classroom learning with real-world experiences, the tour enhanced students’ awareness of cultural security and fostered a deeper appreciation of the cultural connections between Hong Kong and the Mainland.
