From 25 to 28 April 2025, 40 students participated in a four-day study tour to Fujian Province.
As part of their historical exploration, students visited the Fujian Tulou, where they learned about its unique architectural design and defensive functions, as well as the traditional customs and lifestyle of the Hakka people. They also toured the Maritime Transport Museum, gaining insights into ancient overseas trade and the historical role of the Maritime Silk Road.
In terms of cultural learning, students visited Kaiyuan Temple, the largest temple in Fujian Province, to explore how national historical relics are preserved and how traditional Chinese culture is passed down. They also conducted a field study at the Wudianshi Traditional Street District to gain further insight into the country’s efforts in cultural conservation and heritage. On Gulangyu Island, students admired the blend of Chinese and Western classical architecture and experienced the unique cultural characteristics reflected in its architectural styles.
For the academic exchange, students visited Jimei University, where they learned about local pathways to higher education and the learning environment. They also engaged in mutual sharing to deepen their understanding of the academic cultures in both Hong Kong and Fujian.
Most importantly, the tour helped students foster cultural confidence and recognize the importance of preserving cultural heritage. It deepened their understanding of how cultural security supports national unity and social stability, making this an enriching and meaningful experience.
