Recognising the importance of public speaking as a vital skill, the English Department organised an Emcee Training Course in October. Conducted over 4 sessions by our NET, the Emcee Training Course constitutes one of the English Department’s series of activities to build students’ proficiency in public speaking, in addition to nurturing self-confidence and leadership skills.
22 aspiring emcees, from S1 to S5, learnt the essential elements of emcee hosting, and acquired effective presentation techniques for emcee hosting, and public speaking in general. Through the course, students learnt that as emcees, they are the captains of the programme - they are in control of the audience’s attention, and the success of the programme hangs on their shoulders. They understood that good emceeing requires time, energy, forethought and practice.
Following graduation from the course, student emcees will have the opportunity to put into practice what they have learnt by being emcees for various school events.
